The 7th is calm, close to the Rodin and the Invalides, and full of the sort of building people picture when they imagine Paris. Saint-Germain is for walking and bookshops and dinner at nine. The 1st puts you between the Tuileries and the Palais-Royal. The 16th is residential, green and the right answer for families with a car.
Good apartments are old, which means the details matter: whether there is a lift, which floor, whether the courtyard is quiet, whether the kitchen has been thought about. We look at these before we propose anything.
Beyond the apartment, Paris rewards knowing people. Ateliers, private collections, restaurants that no longer answer the phone. Baya Azur handles those details directly and carefully.
Best time to go
April – June, September – October
Spring and early autumn are the obvious answer. Less obvious: the last two weeks of July, when Parisians leave and the city belongs to whoever stayed. Fashion weeks and Roland-Garros take the best apartments out of the market first.

The morning walk for bread
Two hundred metres, a queue of neighbours, and breakfast at your own table with the windows open. It is small and it is the whole point.
A private view of what is closed
A collection seen before opening, a workshop in the Marais, a couture atelier out of season. Arranged quietly, and never in a group.
Dinner and then home on foot
Staying in the 6th or the 7th means the evening ends with a walk along the river rather than a car ride across the city.
Space for the family
Three or four bedrooms in the right street, a cook for the evenings, and a nanny who speaks the language. Paris becomes possible with children.
