An island small enough to cross in twenty minutes, where the houses are the point. St Barth is lived from a terrace, not a lobby.
Almost everything here sits on a hillside. Villas in Lurin and Pointe Milou look straight down at the water; Gustavia puts you a short walk from the harbour and the shops on rue de la République; Colombier and Flamands trade the noise for silence and the best light in the late afternoon.
There are few large hotels, and that is precisely why people come. A house with a pool, a cook who knows the fish market, and a car waiting at Saint-Jean is the normal way to spend a week here — not an upgrade.
We work with the families and managers who look after these houses year-round, which is the only way to know which ones actually have shade at lunch, which road is impossible with a low car, and which staff are worth asking for by name.
Best time to go
December – April
The island is at its liveliest between Christmas and mid-January, and the best houses are held a year ahead for that fortnight. February and March keep the same weather with far fewer people, and June and November are quiet, green and considerably gentler on rates.

The terrace at six o'clock
The whole island turns gold for about forty minutes. In a villa above Flamands or Lurin that hour belongs to you, with your own music and your own glass, and nobody setting a table beside you.
Breakfast on your own clock
Croissants from Choisy, fruit from the Saint-Jean market, and a table nobody has to be dressed for. Children swim before the adults have finished the coffee.
Gustavia when you want it
Ten minutes by car and you are at Bonito or Le Select. Ten minutes back and the noise is gone. The house lets you dip in and out of the season rather than live inside it.
One tender ride away
For guests who arrive by sea, the villa becomes the base and the yacht becomes the day trip — Colombier for lunch, Île Fourchue for the afternoon, back to the pool before dinner.
