Formentera is the calm centre of an Ibiza week: sandbanks off Illetes, water shallow enough to see the anchor, and lunch ashore before crossing back. Ibiza itself can be as loud or as quiet as you decide — the west coast at Cala Comte is a different island from the one people imagine.
Mallorca's Tramuntana coast is mountains falling straight into deep water, with Sa Calobra and Cala Deià below them. Menorca is the one nobody talks about: dozens of small calas, sheltered water and very little noise. Families tend to end up moving between all of them.

The season runs longer here than most of the Mediterranean. May and October are quiet and mild; Ibiza's summer really means late June to early September.

Menorca's calas
Small, sheltered inlets on the south coast where the nights are quiet and the swimming is easy.
