Hundreds of islands, most of them small, and a route you can redraw every morning depending on the wind and the mood aboard.
In the Cyclades the scenery changes from one island to the next: the white volcanic cliffs of Milos and the uninhabited coast of Polyaigos, the marble villages of Paros and Antiparos, the cliffs of Folegandros, Mykonos when someone in the group wants a night out. Distances are short, so you can leave after breakfast and be swimming somewhere else by noon.
The Ionian, on the western side of the country, is another Greece entirely — green, gentle and sheltered, with Paxos, Ithaca and Kefalonia close together. Families often prefer it. What both share is the same rhythm: one anchorage, one taverna at the water's edge, nothing scheduled.

May – October
The Meltemi blows hardest in the Cyclades in July and August, which suits sailors and shapes the route. June, September and October are calmer; the Ionian stays gentle all summer.
