Seven volcanic islands off the north coast, one of which erupts most nights. It is the most unusual week in the Mediterranean.
The Aeolians are what bring a yacht here. Panarea is small, whitewashed and busy in the evenings; Salina is green and known for its capers, Malvasia and its restaurants; Vulcano has warm springs at the shoreline; Filicudi and Alicudi have almost nothing on them at all.
Stromboli is the one people remember. You take the yacht round to the Sciara del Fuoco after dark and watch the glow run down the black flank of the cone into the sea. Sicily itself adds Taormina, the Greek theatre, and markets and cooking worth planning a day ashore around.

The Aeolians are at their most social in August. June and September are hot but calmer, and better for the crossings between the islands.
