A French island of eight square miles with a restaurant scene most cities would envy, and a harbour that fills each winter with people who return every year.
St Barth is small enough that a yacht changes the whole shape of the day. Anchor off Colombier, which has no road to it, swim in the morning, then move round to Gouverneur or Saline in the afternoon. In the evening you tender into Gustavia and walk to dinner.
St Martin, twenty minutes north, is where the flights and provisioning happen, so guests arriving on different days is never a problem. Anguilla is close as well, with long empty sand at Shoal Bay and a very different pace, and the cays around it make an easy day out.
Best time to go
December – April
Christmas and New Year are the busiest weeks of the Caribbean year in Gustavia and need to be arranged far ahead. January to April is warm, dry and much calmer.

The bay with no road to it — quiet in the morning, and a short walk over the hill if you want one.
Gustavia
Tender in for dinner and the evening, then go back aboard and sleep at anchor.
Saline & Gouverneur
Two undeveloped beaches on the south side, best reached from the water in the afternoon.
Anguilla
A short crossing for long empty sand, grilled crayfish and an entirely slower day.
