The Gulf of Göcek has a dozen anchorages within a few miles of each other, all sheltered enough that nights aboard are completely still. It is one of the few places in the Mediterranean where you can genuinely stay at anchor for a week and never think about the weather.
Head east and the Lycian coast begins: Kekova, where a Roman town slid into the sea and you swim above the foundations, Kaş, Simena's castle on the hill. Ashore, the food is simple and very good, and the coast stays warm long after Europe has packed up for the year.

The season is longer than the rest of the Mediterranean: the sea is still warm through October, and May and June are green before the summer heat sets in.
